The cost of silence in the face of

If you don't think too deeply on the topic, it seems quite reasonable to hire day laborers to get menial work done around the house. In fact, what harm could it possibly do if a roofer, a mason, a plumber, a landscaper, "big box" stores, or your favorite fast-food chains use illegal aliens to get their work done? It's cheap labor, so everybody wins, right? The cold hard truth is that illegal-alien labor is far from cheap. It not only costs every legal citizen of this country a great deal, it could cost the people of this nation everything. So here's what we see when we take the time to think about it: . Those contractors, lawn services, etc. that employ illegal alien day laborers pay the help under the table, so hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes go undeclared each year by both the aliens and those who hire them. Who makes up the shortfall? YOU DO. . Almost $20 billion a year has been sent back to Mexico by illegal aliens in just the past few years. Who is hurt by this monetary drain on the American economy? YOU ARE. . Who funds Medicaid, which is defrauded of millions of dollars each year by illegal aliens preying on the system? YOU DO. . When an illegal alien without without a license or insurance injures a legal driver in an accident, who pays? YOU DO. . Whose children suffer when school time must be devoted to the education of non-English-speaking children? YOURS DO. . 30% of those imprisoned in this country for criminal activity are now illegal aliens. Who pays the court costs, feeds them, clothes them, and puts them up for the night? YOU DO. . Who funds the library programs in Spanish that various communities around the country so generously offer? YOU DO. . Who is forced to listen to Spanish on the PA systems and at the cash registers of American stores, and who has to "Press one for English" because so many people now living here don't know our language . . . and don't care to know it? YOU ARE. |

| The waterbearer: A woman from an area church brings bottled water to the "poor." They won't move to help her, but they will take what she brings. It's free, after all, and our government on every level -- community, county, state, and federal -- has made the illegals quite used to getting everything from food to medical care free of cost or obligation. | ||
