Teddy Roosevelt understood

Was Teddy Roosevelt a racist? Of course he wasn't; in fact, our 26th president is revered as one of our greatest leaders, a man who believed in each citizen living honestly and working hard for himself, his family, and to build the country. He knew what America was about, and what it meant when an immigrant came here but still held allegiance to his former country. And here's what TR himself said about immigration in 1907: ". . . In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American . . . There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag . . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language . . . and we have room for but one sole loyalty, and that is a loyalty to the American people." Yet there are people out there who would call Teddy Roosevelt a racist, just as they call anyone who wants a strong, safe America a racist. That's because the name callers have agendas contrary to preserving a strong and culturally rich America, which is a land that has done so much good for the world and has received so little in return; it's a country with undeniable flaws, but that strives to correct them; it's a nation with the power to be the global empire on this very day if it chose to be so, but which instead seeks to protect the world from tinpot despots and despoilers. That is the America the name callers want destroyed. And what would be left where America stood once all the "racists" were gone? A homogenized country, unrecognizable and without the means to lead or succeed in any way, a land of sheep in a world of sheep governed by a very small number of self-interested herders. No individualism, no strength, no culture, no unity, no flag, no language, no fight, no will. To that United Patriots of America says, "No way." |

People must act, and act soon, or all we love will disappear forever. Sound extreme? Well, if you look around -- really look around -- you'll come to realize that this is not the America you knew when you were young. Open your heart as well as your eyes and you'll also realize that it has not changed for the better. If you are not scared now, you soon will be. Guaranteed. If you don't stand up to "Press 1 for English," it will shortly become "Press 2 for English." Is that what you want for your family? Is that what you want for your children and their children? Before it's too late, get involved in the survival of your nation. |
